It's now the 26th of August, and I feel like I'm getting closer to actually starting this journey. Sold the car a couple of days ago, and now I'm like the vast majority of Torontonians (without a car). I really need to start focusing on getting the apartment cleaned and packing sorted. I think I'll jump on that this weekend.
From what I can see, many people are getting very frustrated waiting to hear about their e-tickets, and I must admit that I would like to have a date in mind. I'm all for going with the flow, but sometimes it is good just to know. With over 1,000 teachers to arrange visas, flights and accommodation for I do understand that there are going to be some delays and mix-ups. It's really a huge undertaking, especially during Ramadaan.
I'm also thinking I should start focusing on getting some things ready for the classroom. If I get over there too late I may not have much of a chance to do some planning. The first purchase I think I'll be making in the UAE is a good laser printer.
I figured out this morning that there isn't a daylight savings time change in the UAE so when Canada changes time this Fall, I will be 9 hours ahead of family and friends. I've placed a UAE time clock at the start of this web page in hopes that people will become accustomed to the time difference. If I do get the chance to make calls home, it may be at some odd times.
